Free Webinar: FAIR Plan Increase, Insurance Alternatives & Home Hardening

Free Webinar: FAIR Plan 29% Increase effective Oct. 15:
Alternatives, Discounts & Home Hardening Tuesday October 13, 6pm

California FAIR Plan premiums are about to get even more expensive, with a 29% average increase coming October 15. If you are already paying thousands of dollars a year for fire insurance, a major rate increase may make it worth taking another look at your options. The FAIR Plan is also drastically cutting the commissions it pays brokers, which may change how much help you get at renewal.

In this free webinar, we’ll focus on practical ways you can reduce your insurance costs, improve your chances of finding coverage outside the FAIR Plan, and make sure you are receiving the wildfire-related discounts you qualify for. We’ll cover:

  • The FAIR Plan rate increase and how it will affect your premiums
  • Alternative Insurers including Kin, Stand, Green Shield, Delos and PURE that are now writing policies in high-risk areas. The time may have come to ask your broker to shop your coverage again.
  • FAIR Plan discounts: Home hardening and discounts: which upgrades matter most and how to document them. FAIR Plan policyholders may qualify for discounts of up to 16.4% off the wildfire portion of their premium; discounts from other insurers may be higher.
  • Home hardening that matters to insurers: Roofs, vents, eaves, vegetation, Zone 0, and other improvements that may reduce wildfire risk and improve your insurance options.
  • Insurance Company Notices: What the different types of notice mean, and how to respond.

There is some encouraging news. FAIR Plan growth has slowed and insurers including Mercury and CSAA have been expanding coverage in wildfire-prone areas. That does not mean every FAIR Plan customer can find conventional insurance today—but it does mean you should periodically recheck your options rather than assuming the FAIR Plan is permanent.

There will be a 30 minute presentation, followed by live Q&A. Ask your questions live, or submit them in the chat.
